Zurich – Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich) has appointed Sierra Signorelli, currently Group Chief Underwriting Officer, as Chief Executive Officer Commercial Insurance and a member of the Executive Committee with immediate effect. Sierra Signorelli succeeds James Shea, who has decided to leave Zurich to pursue new responsibilities outside the company. Sierra Signorelli’s successor will be announced in due course.

Mario Greco, Group Chief Executive Officer, said: “Sierra has extensive experience and knowledge in the insurance industry and is a proven and passionate leader. With her versatile skills, her profound understanding of our business and our corporate culture, as well as her strong customer orientation, she is the perfect person for this role. I am confident that she will successfully develop our competencies in corporate banking and ensure the continued success of the business. “

Mario Greco added: “I would like to thank Jim for his commitment to Zurich and his valuable contributions to our business. He has realigned the global corporate banking business to achieve sustainable profitability and to meet the changing and complex needs of our large corporate customers. I wish Jim every success in his future work. “

Sierra Signorelli joined Zurich in July 2017. She has many years of experience in the insurance industry and has held senior positions in the USA, Asia and Switzerland. She successfully reshaped the underwriting function, made it resilient and advanced differentiated services and solutions for Zurich’s clients.

James Shea joined Zurich in September 2016 when the group amalgamated its corporate and corporate banking businesses into a single global business unit. Under his leadership, Zurich has regained its position as the industry’s leading corporate insurer by focusing on disciplined underwriting while investing in know-how, tools and skills to ensure success across insurance cycles.
