A driver was injured in a traffic accident between two cars on Sunday morning, June 6, in Zurich’s city district 6.
Shortly after 7 a.m., two cars drove through Neumühlequai towards the Milchbuck tunnel. After turning into the two-lane Wasserwerkstrasse, the 43-year-old driver on the left-hand side changed lanes to the right in his car. For reasons that have not yet been clarified, there was a collision with a 55-year-old man’s car that was already in the right-hand lane.
As a result of this collision, the 43-year-old’s vehicle was thrown over the sidewalk on the right and hit a garden wall. The 55-year-old’s car skidded to the left onto the opposite lane, from there back again, then brushed the wall of the tunnel gallery and finally came to a standstill between the pillars of the gallery on the paved border. While the 43-year-old was uninjured, the 55-year-old man was driven to a hospital with unknown injuries.
The exact cause of the accident is currently unknown. It will be clarified by the Zurich canton police in cooperation with the public prosecutor and the Zurich Forensic Institute.
Because of the accident, both lanes of Wasserwerkstrasse leading in the direction of the autobahn, between Neumühlequai and Milchbucktunnel, had to be closed to all traffic until about 12 noon.
In addition to the Zurich canton police, the Zurich city police, an ambulance from Schutz & Rettung Zurich, the responsible public prosecutor and the Zurich Forensic Institute were on duty.
