Latin and swing rhythms, French chanson, hip hop, jazz and choral music in a slightly more unusual sound performed by an excellent and professional creative team – a new musical “ZUM ZUM” is in preparation. In its creation, two very talented and young composers – Laura Polence and Raimonds Petrauskis, who live in the Netherlands, have joined forces, the story was created by Edgars Niklasons and Annija Putniņa, the lyrics – Andris Akmentiņš and Raimonds Petrauskis, informs “Producentu grupa 7”.
The participants of the show are both seasoned professionals in their field and new generation talents who have proven themselves in other musicals produced by “Producer Group 7” (“Kaupēn, mans mālītais”, “Agrā Rūsa”, “Zvaigznes ļīts”, etc.). Stylistically, the most diverse genres of music are represented in the show, which together with the attractive choreography will create a dynamic and emotional story about the modern choir environment.
In the center of the story is conductor Agris (played by musician Andris Ābelīte), who, together with his chamber choir, is on his way to victory at the World’s Best Choir Competition in Paris. Will the choir experience its hour of glory? Joie de vivre and dynamism permeate the entire story, bringing the viewer along with it.
“I am happy that this year of the Song Festival has resulted in the first musical in the world, ZUM ZUM, dedicated to Latvian choirs and their values,” says director Edgars Niklasons. “It is unique – to be present at the moment when a completely new musical is born, and it is created in close cooperation with the actors themselves, as they are involved in creating the characters of their characters. We are a team of young people and this also allows us to better appeal to the younger generation. However, we do not draw strict boundaries, the musical will appeal to people of any generation. We all live today, here and now, and this is our time to fulfill our dreams.”
The musical ZUM ZUM features a brilliant bouquet of actors and singers – Andris Ābelīte, Aija Vītoliņa, Baiba Renerte, Annija Putniņa, Katō, Elizabete Zagorska, Elīna Ose, Toms Kalderauskis, Emīls Kivlenieks, Latvian puppet theater actors Anrijs Sirmais and Elīna Bojarkina, as well as the very talented Eduards Rediko, Edvards Grieze, Austra Kozuliņa, Emīls Gilučs, Artūrs Biķernieks, Sarma Liede and Markus Rütentāls. A strong line-up of instrumentalists is also on stage – Raimonds Petrauskis, Ernests Mediņš, Dāvis Jurka and Jānis Rubiks.
