Zulte Waregem lost on the field of Lommel on Wednesday evening and was sentenced to an extra year in the Challenger Pro League. Coach Vincent Euvrard thought his team deserved more.
“They were two games of details with two teams that were very evenly matched. I think it is hard for us to go out after these two games. As close as it was, I think we captured the best moments have had,” Vincent Euvrard told us after the game.
“In the first leg the equalizer came very late, there were also the moments we created in the first half. Lommel started a little better, but we gradually took over and we had a very strong last fifteen minutes in the first half. We then created three big moments and in these types of matches you have to seize those moments to take the lead.”
“In the second half we had a little more trouble getting out of it, but we still had the best moment in minute 65. In such matches you sometimes have to have luck on your side, we had a ball on the post,” Euvrard sighed.
Lommel’s goal only came in the 77th minute and so Essevee had little time to put things right. “Lommel scored from one of the corners at a difficult moment in the 77th minute. We tried to set up a final offensive and we escaped one more time with Traore who controlled the ball a little too far before going one on one with the keeper could come.”
“We would have had a little more if we had taken our moments. They were two teams that both played two very good games,” the coach concluded.
