Jakarta – Zul Zivilia who is famous for the song Aishiteru, he had to spend time in prison because of the drug case he caught. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison, but will be out on parole in about 3 years.
During the 5 years he spent in prison, Zul Zivilia’s wife, Retno Paradinah, admitted that her husband had become more diligent in praying.
“This is about to enter his sixth year. Thank God, he is more mature, his faith is strong, far from what he used to be, even when he first got married. This is a big change,” he said on Ambyar Trans Morning TV, Monday (11/11/2024).
Even in custody, Zul also had a lot of activities. He also tutors art teachers and is polite.
“Good, because he has a lot of activity inside, his behavior turns around. From 18 years his PB (parole) is 2027. A lot, because he is full of activity inside,” said Retno .
Even though Zul also admitted that he was thinking about giving up music. He prefers to study religious formation or help with cooking at Gunung Sindur Prison, West Java.
“At the beginning, people already knew I was a musician, but at the beginning I felt hopeless here, I didn’t want to play music anymore,” said Zul at Gunung Prison Sindur, Bogor, West Java, Tuesday (5/11).
The 18 year sentence made Zul feel hopeless. He believes that his work will not be able to be heard by his fans in the future.
“I’m in despair because of my long sentence, while I’m here I can’t create it. I mean I can create it, but the publication of my work is limited by the -situation. But thank God, now everything is answered,” said Zul, who has just released a single with Zivilia titled Loyal even when he is not by your side.
Supported by prison, Zul Zivilia found his joy in music again. The father of four is also an art teacher at Gunung Sindur Prison.
“Oh yes, there are a lot of them here, including when there are competitions, especially from residents supported by BNPT, sometimes they make poetry music and we have won several times,” Zul said.
