Zug United conceded a 3:9 dunk against the Skorpions Emmental. The match in Zollbrück had started so well. Only 14 seconds were played as top scorer Denisa Ratajova gave Zugers a 1-0 lead.

After this dream start, the blue-and-whites continued to dominate the match. But for the moment they have not been able to take advantage of the many opportunities that have been given to them by the mistakes made by the “Scorps”. In the 16th minute it’s 2:0 for the guests. In a confusing situation in front of goal, the Emmental team didn’t take the ball away, but scored into their own goal. The goal was awarded to Zug’s Bianca Böhni.

In the middle third, the favorite shows up

The women of Zug really wanted to build on their furious start. But those who know scorpions knew that this would not be an easy task. And indeed: just 81 seconds after the restart they scored the goal. It was the beginning of an exceptional phase in which the women of Zug had no chance. After about 38 minutes the score was 6:2 for the hosts. At least Ratajova was able to limit the damage for Zugerinnen thanks to her second goal.

After the second break, the power play gave them the chance to shorten further. But Zug failed to exploit this advantage. Shortly after the penalty had expired, the Emmental women got a free kick, which led to 7:3.

United lose a place

Zug coach Natalie Martinakova then took a break. With six against five players, the plan is to turn the tide. But that too failed. The Scorpions scored twice more into empty nets. Conclusion from Zug’s point of view: the middle-income mortgage was too high.

The first defeat after six victories means a slight relegation in the table. Chur overtook Zug United, who are now fourth.

Next weekend is the last double round in 2022. We will face Bern Burgdorf in the local Kantihalle on Saturday (match starts at 3pm). Incidentally, the Zug women will receive this opponent on January 14th for the cup semi-finals. Finally, next Sunday, the away match against leaders Kloten-Dietlikon Jets awaits us.
