“I moved to live in a country where there are rules and where the laws are obeyed,” Vasil Vassilev-Zueka said in a popular interview a week ago, without specifying that he had moved to Spain. But if the comedian was honest, he should have admitted that he himself is a pet of the law, writes “Weekend”.
And Bulgaria is probably the only country in the world where, after killing a person on the road, you may not even be detained to clarify the circumstances. Unfortunately, the star of “Ku-ku” and “The Masked Singer” knows this from personal experience.
Vasil Vassilev – Zueka has a grave sin from 21 years ago. In the spring of 2000, he hit an old man in the ideal center of Sofia. The accident happened on Tsarigradsko Shosse Blvd. near the Perlovska River and the pensioner died on the spot.
This incident is one of the most hidden, as very few people know about it, and the Ministry of Interior does not even include it in its usual summary of crimes and incidents, which it prepares every morning and provides to the media.
Zueka was not even tried after the accident, and the elderly man died on the spot. He was not even detained for explanation at the district police department. He left alive and well only 3 hours after he killed a man and gave a quick testimony about what happened.
The comedian avoids questions about the crime he committed. In a single statement to the media, he said he did not want to talk about it because he wanted to forget what had happened. His close friend Ani Halvadjian told some of the moments in the fatal blow to the tabloid “Vseki den” in 2011.

It is surprising, however, that he drives at all – his license has not been revoked, and he himself clearly does not consider it necessary to get out of the car forever, after he has already killed a person, wrote Weekend. Whether he is guilty or not, the case is covered , and the actor has not even been charged with reckless homicide – as if it were a broken window in a tavern, not a human life taken involuntarily.
Zueca was dragged to Spain by his wife Annie. The actor’s fiancée told him for a whole year that he could no longer live in Bulgaria after their home was attacked several times by thieves. She insisted that the family move to her sister in Spain, where she said life was much calmer. The star of the show “The Masked Singer” tried to dissuade her, but the lady began to receive attacks of severe panic attacks and this tipped the scales in her favor.
Acquaintances of the actor revealed that the real reason to turn his back on our country lies in his partner – Annie. She rubbed salt over her husband’s head for a whole year, saying that she could no longer live in Bulgaria. The reason for this was a series of attacks by thieves in the family home.
As the apartment was equipped with a modern security system, the criminals did not steal much, but even the attempted robberies were enough to shake the lady’s nerves. Zueka’s sweetheart began to complain of anxiety, palpitations, and sleep problems. She did not dare to be alone with her little son in the evening, she was startled by the faintest noises and had no moment of peace. The wife did not stop begging her husband to leave Bulgaria and move to live with her sister in Spain. At first, the actor thought that these moods would pass quickly. But his wife did not refuse to insist on emigration. Eventually, she began to have panic attacks, and this finally convinced him that stress could ruin her health.
Annie suggested that she could run a successful restaurant business in Spain, close to her sister, and that he could make a living from selling the paintings he had been painting for years. A few months ago, Zueca showed his works for the first time, which turned out to be a real hit. They began to be sold as hot bread, although to this day the actor claims that he does not perceive himself as a real artist, but rather paints for pleasure. However, it is known that he managed to take BGN 8,000 from only one canvas – a price that completely satisfies him. Drawing the line, Vassilev decided that it was not such a bad idea to move abroad.
It is alleged that the couple sold part of their property in Bulgaria to open a restaurant. Many people suspect that Ani has exaggerated the things about her stress and panic attacks, just to make her husband leave Bulgaria. In this way, she permanently distances him from his ex-wife – Nina Dimitrova, and their daughter Devina, who is already acting as a director. After graduating from university in London, the girl lived in Bulgaria again and had started spending a lot of time with her father. Zueca even starred in Devina’s debut film, with which she has already won more than one or two awards. However, Annie was worried that this communication with her daughter could bring her husband closer to her mother again. Therefore, she preferred to limit it by changing the state.
Whether Annie really intended to separate her husband from his ex-family through emigration cannot be said with certainty. But it is a fact that crime in Spain is not lower than in Bulgaria. On the contrary, it is full of illegal immigrants, a lot is being stolen, and in the last two years the problem has been almost unmanageable due to the pandemic that has caused mass impoverishment. However, the couple says they feel good about their new home and that the place is far better than their home country. Zueca helped his wife work in the restaurant, while successfully finding a market for his paintings. His clients so far have been mostly Bulgarians, who are largely buying them because of their author’s popularity. However, there were also buyers from abroad, and the tendency is for them to become more and more.
The producer of the show “The Masked Singer” – Magi Halvadjian, offered Zueka to continue working in the show. He offered him to fly to Bulgaria for each live, and then to return to Spain with his wife and child. But that meant being away from her family for three days each week, something Annie couldn’t accept. The actor chose a peaceful house, a happy wife and a calm child over his television career. And left the show.
Magi Halvadjian decided to invite Krasi Radkov as a deputy of Zueka and a partner of Gerasim Georgiev-Gero in the third season of “The Masked Singer”.
