Zuckerberg surpasses Bezos, he is the second richest in the world. First always Elon Musk

Mark Zuckerberg surpasses Jeff Bezos and conquers the title of the second Scrooge in the world, behind only Elon Musk. The CEO of Meta – according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index – is worth 210.7 billion dollars compared to 209.2 billion for the founder of Amazon. Stratospheric figures but far from the 262.8 billion of the owner of Tesla, firm in his position as the richest man in the world.
Zuckerberg’s wealth is tied to Meta, of which he has about 13%. The former Facebook’s shares have risen about 70% this year, increasing his fortune by 78 billion. And it is not excluded that this could grow further: the CEO of Meta is in fact only 40 years old, less than the 53 it took Musk to build his empire and much less than Warren Buffett, who amassed his wealth after 65 years old. Zuckerberg founded Facebook in 2004 and listed it on Wall Street in 2021: Meta is now the sixth company in the world by market capitalization with a value of almost 1,500 billion dollars, more than Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway and Musk’s Tesla .
2024 is proving to be a particularly good year for the former Facebook company, with investors pushing it higher from its second quarter quarterly results, when it revealed a 22% revenue increase, in what was the fourth consecutive quarter growth of over 20%. Yet 2021 and 2022 have not been easy years, between the privacy update of iOS, Apple’s operating system, and the massive cost-cutting plan that resulted in the departure of around 21,000 employees. A cut that, however, Wall Street welcomed also because it was accompanied by the recovery of online advertising thanks above all to the campaigns launched by the Chinese giants Temu and Shein. Even as Meta continues to spend billions of dollars on the virtual and augmented reality technologies needed for the Metaverse, investors are becoming more lenient on investments, at least as long as advertising, the company’s core business, continues to run. This investment includes the Orion Ar prototype, the “most advanced glasses the world has ever seen”, as Zuckerberg defined them during the latest developers conference.
