Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Just a few months after releasing emoji reactions, WhatsApp has updated its new feature. Now, users are no longer limited to the choice of 6 emoji reactions.

This update to the emoji reaction feature was announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg through his account on Facebook. Meta is the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

“We’re starting to roll out the ability to use any emoji as a reaction on WhatsApp,” Zuckerberg said. The billionaire also revealed his favorite emojis are surfing person , french fries , fist and a score of 100 .

In the current version, WhatsApp users can only use six types of emoji to react to messages sent by their interlocutors, both private and group conversations. After this update, the reaction emoji that can be used exploded to around 3,500 types.

WhatsApp users use emoji reactions for a variety of situations, especially to keep the chain of conversation short or to respond to a group in a group.

To use emoji reactions, users can long touch the message they want to respond to. If you get the update, there will be a “+” sign next to the 6 reaction emojis that are currently available. After that, users can select the desired emoji as in use for sending regular messages.

This blending makes WhatsApp have features that are on par with Messenger, Facebook’s splinter messaging application. Telegram recently also released reaction emojis and animations. But for users who want to use it must pay a subscription fee of US $ 5 per month.
