Brian Jackson rediscovers himself and rebuilds his link to the world and to History through his new opus baptized This Is Brian Jackson. As an affirmation of his identity, and his musical signature, the musician takes us on a journey through the ills of society, his perception of history and his activist struggles with 8 tracks shared between the codes of funk , jazz, blues or even soul.
Funky guitars, jazzy winds or even retro synths, the album imposes itself as a luminous flash on Brian Jackson, long remained in the shadow of his tumultuous collaborator, the poet and musician Gil Scott-Heron. Composed of 8 tracks, the opus is adorned with a good dose of groove which is adorned with Caribbean and African influences, especially in the title Mami Wata.
