“Zoom” faced with suspected lack of data protection – Vorarlberger Nachrichten

The online platform Zoom, which has become popular in the global corona crisis, is suspected of not having taken adequate protective measures against hacker attacks. New York State Attorney General Letitia James opened an investigation into the Californian company’s privacy practices, a government spokesman said.

Earlier, zoom users had complained to the US federal FBI that pornographic content and hate messages had suddenly appeared on the screens during video switching on the platform. According to the FBI office in Boston, online school lessons about Zoom were also disrupted by such content.

Attorney General James said the spokesman said the company would write a letter explaining the measures it was taking to protect the privacy of its users. James is working with the company to resolve potential privacy issues, the spokesman said.
