Cowie is said to have been found in the bedroom of a house. It is unclear whether this home belonged to Cowie or someone else. There would be nothing to indicate a crime; No suspicious objects were found with the body. It is not yet known whether drugs were involved. The results of a toxicology study are yet to be published. In any case, no drugs were found with Cowie’s body.

Viewers of Netflix hit ‘Tiger King’ know Cowie as one of the zookeepers of GW Zoo, the now world-famous American zoo of the eccentric Joe Exotic. As the chief guardian of the big cats, Cowie regularly appeared in the documentary series. Later, Cowie was also one of the people who testified in court about animal cruelty against Exotic. The latter is currently serving a 22-year prison sentence, including for animal cruelty and contract murder.
