Zonneveld, who only appeared on TV at the PDC once before (during the UK Open 2020), started without nerves. His second turn was immediately a maximum score and he won the first leg. Because Wade had an argument a leg later with ‘his’ double 10, the Dutchman doubled his lead. After five legs, the score was 4-1.
Wade then came out of the break well and kept his own leg, but was unable to get closer to Zonneveld due to sloppiness. He even had to allow the Dutchman to get a match dart on the bullseye in the eighth leg. Zonneveld missed that one, but a leg later it was hit. Thanks to a 122 finish via the bull, he beat Wade.
Kuivenhoven has no chance against Heta
The tournament was soon over for Maik Kuivenhoven. The Dutchman was no match for Damon Heta and lost 6-1. Kuivenhoven only got one arrow on the double in the entire match and it was immediately hit. In the other six legs he had no chance against ‘The Heat’ and therefore lost with large numbers.
Wattimena makes a deep impression
Jermaine Wattimena has already shown to be in excellent shape in recent weeks. In the Winter Series he already made an impression and qualified for the Grand Slam of Darts. ‘The Machine Gun’ was narrowly eliminated in the group round, but was then able to continue his form impressively against Steve Lennon. The Irishman managed to break the first leg, but was then no match for the violence of Wattimena. With a 10-darter and two finishes above 100, the Dutchman won convincingly with 6-1. For Wattimena, Luke Humphries is now waiting in the next round.
