Dvořák and Nosk took 17th place in Pyongyang four years ago. Before leaving for Beijing, they planned to place in the top ten, which the Czech crew last did in 1998. In the coronavirus season, the Czechs took only one tenth place in the World Cup, but in training they showed that their plan was not unrealistic.

They improved in virtually every six races. In fourth place, they took sixth place at the same time as the German double bomb with pilot Francesco Friedrich, who has been taking nothing but gold since 2013 at the Olympics and World Championships. In the last training run, the Czechs shared fifth place.

Women’s monobob has its Olympic premiere and the most successful bobsledder in history, the American Kaillie Humphries, has reached the victory. At the games in Vancouver and Sochi, she flew the Canadian double bomb, but after disputes with the union she joined the American team. The world champion has more than a second lead after two races and can expand the medal collection in two doubles.

Only ten teams qualified for the Olympic team jumping competition. The Czech jumpers did not succeed in crossing the big bridge, no one advanced to the second round. The Austrian team won two of the three World Cups this season, but the Norwegians, Germans and Slovenes have more balanced performances on the Olympic bridge. The Czechs started only in Zakopane, where they finished eighth. It would be a big surprise if they moved higher in Beijing.
–
Pančochová did not manage to penetrate the qualification in the downhill style or in the U-ramp, the last chance is Big Air. Only two World Cups took place in this jumping discipline and the Czech national team never made it to the finals. The best jumps were performed by the Japanese Reira Iwabuchi and Kokomo Murase.

Natalie and Filip Taschler’s siblings will start the free dance from the seventeenth place. French figure skaters Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron are in the best position, setting a world record in rhythmic dance. The four-time world champions race for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic, but a two-year hiatus did not affect their art.

The last training before Tuesday’s downhill awaits Ester Ledecká. The first was eleventh, the second was canceled by snowfall on The Rock on Sunday. After the injury, the best downhill skier of the season, the Italian Sofia Goggia, returned, who also missed the super-G, in which she would also be one of the favorites.
