ZOH 2022 | Rewards for athletes for medals at the Beijing Olympics will be the same as in Tokyo

As in the summer, the NSA proposed the same amounts as for the Olympians. “Olympics and Paralympics medalists always promote the Czech Republic in the media around the world, no marketing or PR campaign can do that. That is why they deserve a decent reward for their efforts and work from the state,” NSA Chairman Filip Neusser said in a press release.

Due to the provisional budget, the NSA is not yet able to decide on the amount of remuneration, the budget will probably be approved only after the Olympics. “We cannot decide on finances if we do not have any allocated and we are in a temporary budget. On the other hand, it does not seem fair to me for the representatives to find out the amount of the reward after the games. We assume that the National Sports Agency’s budget should be similar amount as last year, and if it is approved, we will immediately confirm the amount of rewards, “said Neusser.

The reward for more than 18 teams, including the men’s and women’s hockey teams, was set at 16.020 million for gold, 12.015 million for silver and 8.010 million for bronze. If the hockey players had imitated Nagano 1998, they would have won three and a half million crowns more for the Olympic triumph than they had promised in 2018.

The NSA paid a total of 36.345 million crowns to 21 Olympians and Paralympians for the very successful Olympic Games in Tokyo. Such a medal harvest cannot be expected at the Winter Olympics.
