Zoe Saldana thinks there is “fear” in the movie industry due to the ongoing strikes.
The 45-year-old actress has revealed she fears for actors who have to work “for their families and pay their mortgages” amid the Hollywood strike.
Zoe told the ‘Backstage’ podcast, “At the end of the day, I don’t believe organizations would strike if they felt the game of the company they’re in is a fair game. I hope everyone comes together and comes to resolutions that feel fair to all parties involved, because at the end of the day, 80% of our union members are living hand to mouth, paycheck to paycheck, and they can’t really afford to support a strike… So that’s what’s close to my heart.”
The strike action is centered on wage disputes and fears about the potential impact of artificial intelligence technology.
Zoe recognizes that she is in a privileged position, since she is one of the most famous actresses in Hollywood. However, she is determined to show solidarity with other players in the industry.
The actress explained, “That doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be an active member of my organization.”
