“Zlatan is the one who has been most sad”

Worries about a hamstring have made Zlatan Ibrahimovic miss the last few matches with his Milan. But despite that, the forward was selected in Sweden’s squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Kosovo (October 9) and Greece (October 12). This weekend, however, it became official that the superstar is forced to say no to the national team gathering.

– I would not have taken him out if there had not been a chance for him to play. Then how big that chance was, neither he nor I knew. He has for a while hoped that it will come with it, but it has not done so, says national team captain Janne Andersson.

– The dialogue has been great and he is probably the one who has been most sad that he can not participate.

If Andersson feels any concern that 40-year-old Ibrahimovic, who has been injured recently, will not return to Blågult? No. The league captain believes that Zlatan will make a comeback again.

– I have a hope and a strong belief in it. Because he’s a guy of extraordinary proportions. The skull he has to recover, for example from the ugly knee injury he had before… So I have a hope that he will return to the national team.

– Then I can never know, I think no one can. But I would very much like to have him with me, because he has qualities that are very different and extraordinary. I really hope he gets started again in a way that allows him to be involved. Hopefully he can be with the next collection already.

The next collection is in November. This concludes the World Cup qualifying group stage with matches against Georgia and Spain.
