The Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the AC Milan striker, announced his retirement from football, on the night he bid farewell to the Milan fans.
The Milan team achieved a big victory at the expense of its counterpart Hellas Verona, 3-1, during the match that brought them together on Sunday evening at the San Siro Stadium, in the thirty-eighth and final round of the Italian League championship this season 2022-2023.
“There are so many memories and emotions inside this stadium,” Zlatan said in his farewell to the fans. “The first time I arrived they gave me happiness, and the second time they gave me love. I would like to thank my family and all those close to me for their patience.”
He added, “I want to thank my second family, the players, the coach and his staff for the responsibility they gave me. I would like to thank the managers for the opportunity they gave me.”
And he concluded: “I would like to thank the fans, they welcomed me with open arms and I will be a Milanista all my life. It is time to say goodbye to football, but not to say goodbye to you, it is very difficult, there are many feelings, I will see you around if I am lucky, Forza Milan, bye.”
With this result, Milan ends the season in fourth place in the Italian League standings table, with 70 points, while Hellas Verona ranks eighteenth with 31 points, to confirm its relegation to the second degree.
