Chelsea won 1-0 over Atletico Madrid in the first half of the Champions League last 16 second leg. Hakim Ziyech scored a goal.
Chelsea turns to host Atletico at Stamford Bridge, London, England, Thursday (18/3/2021) in the morning WIB, in the second leg of the Champions League last 16. The match was tight.
Atletico, who trailed 0-1 on aggregate, have pressed Chelsea since the kick off took place. In the first five minutes, two attempts could be made by the visitors through Marcos Llorente and Renan Lodi, who could still be suppressed by the Chelsea rearguard.
Chelsea just came out of the pressure after the 15th minute. Timo Werner had spread threats, but his efforts were blocked.
In the 29th minute, Luis Suarez almost took the lead. His kick from inside the penalty box just deviated to the right side of the Chelsea goal.
Goal! Chelsea made a surprise by being able to break into the Atletico goal. From the fast counter-attack driven by Werner, Hakim Ziyech was able to break into Jan Oblak’s goal. Score 1-0 for Chelsea.
Excellence makes Chelsea more comfortable and confident. Thomas Tuchel’s men could take control of the game in the remaining time of the first half. Several opportunities were obtained again through Kai Havertz and Antonio Ruediger, but there were no goals yet. Until the break, the score 1-0 remained.
