The family of a young Israeli woman who died of heart inflammation after being vaccinated against COVID-19 has accused the hospital where she was treated to be responsible for her death.
Shirel Hilel, 22, received his second dose of the vaccine two weeks ago, his sister Nofar told Channel 13 in a report that aired Thursday night. She later claimed that she did not feel well and had muscle pain.
“I told him, ‘take [un analgésique]. Doesn’t that help? Tomorrow go to the doctor, ”Nofar explained.

Hilel’s condition worsened, she began to have difficulty breathing and chest pain, and was taken to Ziv Medical Center in Safed.
At the hospital, Hilel was diagnosed with myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle, which the doctor compared to a swollen shoulder, according to Eyal, Hilel’s boyfriend.
“I said to myself ok, there is three or four days, or a week. I will stay with her as long as necessary, ”he said.

According to the channel, there were other cases of myocarditis among the Israelis who received both vaccines, but all were treated successfully, including cases of patients whose condition was more severe than Hilel’s.
Hilel was eventually taken to the cardiac care unit, where her family claimed she was not adequately monitored by hospital staff.
“I looked at the monitor, I saw the breaths. The monitor was ringing but no one came to see, ”Nofar Hilel said.
Two days later, her sister collapsed.
“I got ready really quickly and said, ‘I’m going to go [à l’hôpital] to see what we can do. ‘ Five minutes later they called to say she was dead, ”Nofar said.
She added, “She just deteriorated in front of their eyes and no one, really no one lifted a finger, or warned that she wasn’t receiving the necessary care. “
An attorney for the family said those close to Hilel intended to take legal action against the hospital.
Ziv Hospital, meanwhile, said Hilel received similar treatment from other patients who recovered within days.
“On the last day of his hospitalization, his situation started to deteriorate. She developed persistent heart rhythm disturbances and did not respond to treatment, and after being resuscitated several times, she was pronounced dead. We share the grief of the family at this heavy loss, ”the hospital told the channel.
