Zing reports that the PC version of The Last of Us Part I is experiencing a subpar technical state.

Just today, the expected PC port of the remake of the action-adventure The Last of Us was released, behind it is the studio Iron Galaxy. A few hours after the release, however, it is clear that everything is definitely not in the best order with the conversion. On Steam is only 36% positive at the time of writing, and the game has earned a “rather negative” label from reviews.

Even though the preload was available, players didn’t just get to play, because the shaders start to compile in the menu. This is of course good, it will prevent very annoying stuttering during gameplay, on the other hand, the compilation here takes a really long time, of course it depends on your configuration, but it can be from several tens of minutes to several hours. However, don’t try to skip the compilation, otherwise you’ll end up with very nasty jams.

The biggest problems occur during the gameplay itself. Players mainly complain about high demands – overloaded CPU, high RAM consumption (even over 20 GB), but also VRAM, which can be a big limitation for owners of cards like RTX 3070 or 3080. In addition, the game is said to crash very often on some configurations.

At least the very detailed settings where you can customize the game to run the best for you can be an advantage. Individual items contain indicators of how much the processor, graphics card and video memory will be loaded. So if the game doesn’t run well in the basics, you’ll definitely need to play around with the settings a bit. Anyway, it looks like it’s not a very successful port.
