The director of the Ziguinchor University Hospital for Peace wants his facility to be erected as a level 3 hospital. Moussa Sène believes the potential is sufficient to upgrade to this grade.
By Khadi Sonko – Officially it is a level 2 hospital. But the Peace University Hospital of Ziguinchor provides the services and care of a level 3 hospital. In any case, this is the opinion of its director, Moussa Sène, who insisted on the resources with which the health institution abounds, which allow it to be erected in a level 3 facility. of 20 specialists. On paper we are a tier 2 hospital but in reality we are more of a tier 2 hospital. What we want is to make this hospital at least a tier 3 hospital. pathologies that have been sent to Dakar,” said Moussa Sène. He launched the appeal on Thursday, on the sidelines of a visit by the director of maternal and child health to the region to oversee the field of obstetric fistula surgery. “It is fortunate that we have visits from other specialists from Dakar, from Saint-Louis, this is part of the missions of the hospital,” said Dr. Sène. Indeed, the university hospital has three main missions, including care, training and research. “Today it’s fistulas, but we deal with other pathologies, gynecology, otorhinolaryngology, many specialties. It is routine and allows for the care of the sick on the spot,” explains Dr. Sène.
The training provides tools for other specialists who come from other structures. “Even in the routine there are Dess and interns. These will come but already there are Dess majors who are trained here. There are also students from the Health UFR and other UFRs from Dakar, from Thiès who come to do internships here”, informs the director of the hospital for peace. He continues: “The third aspect is research. These pathologies that occur, you need to know why, and the Ospedale della Pace has this activity. “With all this potential, we can quickly build this hospital to level 3 and we can give it the means to be able to adequately deal with these three aspects”, the director of the health institute pleads again.
