Consumers can expect an average price increase of 27 euros per year at Ziggo and KPN this year, Pricewise states after its own research. The two largest providers have yet to disclose their actual rates.
Future-proof
KPN is expected to increase its rates from July by an average of 2.50 euros per month. Ziggo increases by 2 euros.
Pricewise calls this price increase “inevitable.” Huge investments have been made to the network in the past year future proof they write. For example, KPN is working on the rollout of fiber optics, Ziggo is working on improving download and upload speeds. Those investments will be passed on, the comparison site expects.
New customers
According to Pricewise, the two companies also incur a lot of customer acquisition costs. This is partly due to a growing number of internet-only subscriptions. “This makes it easy for customers to purchase other services elsewhere, such as TV and telephone calls,” says Jeroen Snellen of Pricewise. “This makes it more difficult to retain customers.”
