Zinedine Zidane leads, by far, the ranking of the football coaches with the most followers on Instagram: 27.8 million “followers”. Also the one of the highest paid. According to the authors of the Coach Reputation Ranking, a brand could pay up to 200,000 euros for a sponsored post of theirs. They are followed, by far, the Italian Andrea Pirlo, from Juventus, and Diego Pablo Simeone, from Atltico de Madrid.
Some question their future. Real Madrid travel five points behind the leader, Atltico de Madrid, in the League, but with two more games played, they were eliminated from the Copa del Rey against Alcoyano, in Second B and we will have to see what happens in the Champions League from on February 24, when they play the first leg of the round of 16 against Atalanta. But on Instagram there is no doubt: Zinedine Zidane is number one.
This is confirmed by the Coach Reputation Ranking prepared by the consulting firm Comunicar Es Ganar, which has studied the performance on the social network of the coaches of the 16 teams that from next week will play the knockout stages of the Champions League.
The French coach leads, with 27.8 million followers, the list of coaches with the most followers. It follows with almost 20 million fewer followers Andrea Pirlo, the former player and current coach of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus de Turn: 8.4 million. And the third place is that of the coach of the other Madrid team in the Champions League, Diego Pablo Simeone, who game by game adds 1.7 million.
The top six are completed by Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), with 1.2 million, Ronald Koeman (FC Barcelona), with 769,000 and Mauricio Pochettino (Paris Saint-Germain), with 297,000.
A post for 200,000 euros
Although it does not measure football merits, the number of followers on Instagram is far from being a mere matter of vanity for a coach. As Yuri Morejn, founder of Comunicar es Ganar, points out, “the formula to monetize the activity of a coach in social networks involves generating and nurturing a community connected in time with the public figure. “According to the analyst,” With current data, a commercial brand will pay from about 15,000 euros for a sponsored post on Instagram by Pochettino up to about 200,000 euros for one of Zidane “.
To establish this calculation, the number of followers, the average impact of their publications and the interaction rate, among other variables; the stability in the position, the mentions (positive, negative and neutral) in media and networks, and the applied calculation of the amounts that have been received per sponsored post the five highest paid soccer profiles of the moment on Instagram: Cristiano, Neymar, Messi, Beckham and Ibrahimovic.
In addition to the number of followers, the Coach Reputation Ranking has analyzed the type of content that each coach shares and the image they project. In the case of Zidane, they highlight that “his posts, often featuring his advertising commitments, personal projects and family gatherings, transcend beyond Real Madrid and the social networks themselves”.
In general, the contents that the coaches share are photographs (81%) and to a lesser extent stories (12%) and videos (7%). Direct does not perform any.
Of the most veteran
The Real Madrid coach is also one of those who have been on the social network for the longest time. His profile has been active since September 13, 2014. In this regard, however, Diego Pablo Simeone surpasses him by a few months. The Atltico de Madrid coach opened his Instagram account on June 14 of that same year.
Neither of them are, however, the ones who are most lavish, a facet in which the undisputed leader is Pep Guardiola. The Manchester City coach and former FC Barcelona coach has made 785 posts since his Instagram debut, well over twice the 305 for Zidane or the 279 for Simeone.
Zizou posts barely a rate of one a week, while Guardiola posts something almost every other day. He surpasses him in that, however, Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentinean recently landed on the Paris Saint-Germain bench has also recently arrived on Instagram, on January 1, but he has not wasted time: with a post every 1.6 days he momentarily leads the ranking of publication frequency. .
