French football legend, Zinedine Zidane, revealed his admiration for some heroic athletes and the worst and most beautiful memory of his football career during an interview he conducted on the YouTube channel of his compatriot Tony Park, the former American basketball star.
Although he was an inspiration to many athletes, the 1998 World Cup winner expressed his admiration for sports legends in other disciplines whom he would like to talk to closely.
The Real Madrid star and his former coach spoke about American boxer Mike Tyson, the former world heavyweight champion, and said, “I used to wake up late at night to watch Mike Tyson’s fights. I always have something special about him. Sometimes I would wake up at three or four in the morning and the fight would continue.” Minute, but it doesn’t matter (laughs).”
🗣️ Zinedine Zidane: “Athletes I wish I could have had dinner with?
I was a huge fan of Mike Tyson, I used to wake up at 3 or 4 am to watch him. Then there’s Michael Jordan, one of the greatest athletes ever. Muhammad Ali the greatest, and Ayrton Senna who I loved a lot too.” pic.twitter.com/S47RRjeOUI

Zidane spoke about Michael Jordan, the six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls. He said, “He is an athlete par excellence. He is one of the best athletes of all time,” before returning to mentioning the name of “the legend of the noble American art, Muhammad Ali Clay.”
The Frenchman’s fourth favorite athlete was the late Brazilian Formula 1 world champion Ayrton Senna, who died in an accident in 1994 at the age of 34. He said about him, “I loved him very much at that time. He was a phenomenon.”
The most beautiful and worst memory in Zidane’s career
Contrary to what some expected, the 2006 World Cup final in Germany – in which Zidane was sent off for headbutting Italian defender Marco Materazzi, and the “Roosters” lost against Italy on penalties – was not the biggest disappointment for the former France captain.
The 1998 World Cup? Zinédine Zidane still gets chills! 🥺

The 51-year-old star revealed the biggest disappointment he felt, as, “Our relegation (to the second division) was with the French club Cannes… Relegation with the club was the biggest disappointment.”
Zidane played for Cannes in 1989, before joining French club Bordeaux in 1992.
The 1998 Ballon d’Or winner believes that the most beautiful memory in his career is winning the World Cup with France in 1998.
The former Juventus player scored a brace and Emmanuel Botti scored a goal to lead their country to a deserved victory over Brazil by 3 unanswered goals.
