Jakarta –
Zinedine Zidane not interested in being a coach Paris Saint Germain Next season. The Juventus and Real Madrid legend is actually aiming for the coaching position French National Team which is now occupied by Didier Deschamps.
Reported by RMC Sport, Zidane hopes to replace Deschamps, who has coached Les Bleus for 10 years and his contract will expire after the 2022 World Cup. He is currently unemployed after leaving Real Madrid in the summer of last year.
However, he is said to have not closed the door to coach PSG in the future. However, now is not the right time.
PSG itself has reportedly reached an agreement to end cooperation with Mauricio Pochettino. After 18 months in charge of Les Parisiens, the Argentine coach was asked to leave.
Zidane was rumored to be his replacement. However, Zidane’s representatives denied this. Later, the name appeared Christophe Galtier who is currently coaching Nice.
Galtier, 55, was the coach who led Lille to the French league title last year, ending PSG’s dominance. He is considered the right figure to train Kylian Mbappe et al.
Given that Galtier still has two more seasons on his contract with Nice, PSG need to put in more effort in order to recruit him. But clearly, he is the main priority at this time, not Zidane.
Zidane’s quality as a coach cannot be doubted. During his time coaching Madrid in two different spells, he has won 11 titles, including two La Liga titles and three consecutive Champions League wins in 2016-18.
