Zibanejad Leads Rangers to Victory with Two Power Play Goals

The home side took their last decisive lead in the first half of the game, benefiting from two countless chances which they took advantage of mercilessly.

With the same number of players, the Rangers scored a 1-0 goal in the 3rd minute. In a quick attack, Zibanejad ran into the slot in the middle and received a special service from Jack Roslovic. Unchallenged, the 31-year-old left guest goalkeeper Frederik Andersen (19 saves) has no chance to defend with his shot.

“As a striker you want to contribute and when you score a goal and contribute to the win, it’s a great feeling,” said Zibanejad.

However, the excitement of the tour was short-lived. Just 62 seconds later, Jaccob Slavin equalized the score. A Carolina defender moved from the blue line and the shot found its way past Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin (22 saves) and into the net.

In the following minutes, the opponents countered to a large extent, although the guests from Raleigh were not able to use a power play. The guests showed them how to use numerical amplification effectively. In the 11th minute, Zibanejad put the Rangers ahead again, Tony DeAngelo was in the penalty box for just nine seconds at this point, and in the 17th minute, Vincent Trocheck completed the Rangers’ second power play with a 3-point lead -1.
