Domestic media reported on Saturday (14th) that Zheng Yanxiong, director of the National Security Office of the Central Government in Hong Kong, succeeded Luo Huining as director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government.
Statistics show that the 59-year-old Zheng Yanxiong had worked in Guangdong for a long time in the past. He successively served as the mayor of Shanwei and secretary of the municipal party committee. Until June 2013, he served as the Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee. In May 2018, he was transferred to the Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and the Director of the Political Research Office of the Provincial Party Committee. In October of the same year, he was promoted to the Secretary-General of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee. He concurrently served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee. As of July 2020, Zheng Yanxiong was appointed as the first director of the Central Office of National Security in Hong Kong.
The 68-year-old Luo Huining used to be the governor of the Qinghai Provincial People’s Government, the secretary of the provincial party committee, and the secretary of the Shanxi provincial party committee. In January 2020, he succeeded Wang Zhimin as the director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government. The following month, he also served as the deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council.
