On Monday, the ZHAW started the second virtual examination phase. The surprising turnaround came last Thursday. Due to the current Corona situation, the university of applied sciences canceled all face-to-face exams and switched completely to online tests. With one exception: The School of Management and Law (SML) not only moved its exams to the virtual room, but also by a month and a half to March and thus to the next semester.
This decision was not well received by the students. According to Tele Top, an affected class wrote a letter to the SML director Reto Steiner. In it, they accuse the department of a lack of flexibility and poor time management. Timur Erhan, president of the Alias student association, is also critical: “This is a total failure of the university,” he said. It was foreseeable for a long time that the corona situation would worsen. According to Alias, 3500 students will be affected by the shift.
