The Seventh Member Congress of the China Badminton Association was held in Beijing on the 16th. The meeting elected a new leadership body of the China Badminton Association, Zhang Jun was re-elected as the chairman, and Li Yingchuan, deputy director of the State Sports General Administration, issued a letter of appointment to him.
Zhang Jun, the sixth chairman of the Chinese Badminton Association, made a work report to the conference. He said that in the past four years, the China Badminton Association has experienced many tests. The Chinese Badminton Association has made great achievements in party building work, Olympic preparations, industry management, sports diplomacy, reserve talent training, sports and education integration, domestic and foreign event preparation, national fitness promotion, member development and service platform construction. A lot of effective work has been done in other aspects, which has laid a solid foundation for the substantive reform of the association and the healthy and sustainable development of Chinese badminton.
The representatives at the meeting reviewed and approved the work report, and elected a new head of the association. Zhang Jun was re-elected as chairman, Xia Xuanze, Liu Jin, Cui Jian, Cao Yong, Chen Xingdong, Tian Bingyi, and Gao Ling were elected as vice-chairmen, Cheng Xiaoxiao was elected as secretary-general, and Feng Pingshan was elected as treasurer.
Looking forward to the next stage of work, Zhang Jun said that he will focus on several things: First, prepare for the Paris Olympics. Time is tight and tasks are heavy, and we must strive to achieve good results and win glory for the country; Popularize badminton among the elderly and other groups, promote outdoor badminton, attract more people to fall in love with this sport, and bring people health and happiness; the third is to formulate industry standards, such as youth level standards, and standardize the training of referees and coaches. In addition, it is necessary to seek benefits for more people in the badminton industry, such as continuing to purchase insurance for grassroots coaches across the country, so that they have no worries.
The Badminton World Championships is about to start. Zhang Jun said: “This is the last individual World Championships before the Paris Olympics. We must strive to achieve good results. At the same time, we must observe the main opponents and lay a solid foundation for the Olympics. I hope the players will not think too much about it. More, play every game solidly.”
Relevant leaders of the Personnel Department of the General Administration of Sport of China and the Table Tennis and Badminton Center, representatives of member units in various provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country, national badminton team coaches, athlete representatives, veterans of the badminton industry, representatives of the National Middle School Student Sports Association and University Student Sports Association attended the conference. Zhang Jun also awarded honorary certificates to veterans Hou Jiachang and Lin Shiquan who have made outstanding contributions to the development of badminton.
