“Zero to zero at home is good, we did not receive a goal”

Olimpia equalized without goals in Para Uno against Inter de Porto Alegre, in the first game for the knockout stages of the Copa Libertadores. The Dean had too many clear chances to score at home, but he was not sure in his first official match and now he will have to go to look for the classification to the quarterfinals in Brazil.

The overall process was very even, both having their moments, although the Brazilian team controlled the ball more, but at a slow pace and that was not enough to hurt Olimpia too much.

In the first half, Inter had Caio Vidal as the most dangerous man, who aimed twice at the goal and found a very attentive Alfredo Aguilar, who was impeccable and was one of the Dean’s pillars.

Sergio Orteman planted a very firm 4-4-2 with fast, offensive wingers, such as Silva and Derlis González, who had to support Recalde and Pitta’s task in attack, the latter having a huge game.

At the end of the first half, Olimpia made the first sensations of goal felt. First with a forehand shot by “Tito” Torres that goalkeeper Daniel covered in a great way, who then incredibly silenced Pitta’s goal cry, after a masterful save.

In the complementary one, the procedure was much more open and with spaces. Both forgave too much, although clearly the Paraguayan team had the most realistic chances to win.

Just at the beginning of the second half, Recalde could not define the cue in the heart of the area, after a “play” by Pitta, who had won on the right.

Moment later, Antolín Alcaraz applied a header on a free kick and goalkeeper Daniel recovered from his initial error and took the ball out when he was going straight for the goal.

But the clearest chance of the match was for Víctor Salazar, in a great counterattack, with 20 minutes remaining. The winger led a great transition, then he yielded to Derlis González, who won by speed and re-enabled the Argentine, who incredibly poorly defined, practically with the goal at his disposal, since the goalkeeper had been out of the way.

In the last minutes, Inter wanted more, with Patrick as driver and unbalancing a lot for the right sector, but Olimpia was firm in the background, led by Alcaraz and did not allow cracks.

Due to the amount of chances generated, the goalless draw is little reward for Franjeado, who will have to go to Porto Alegre next Wednesday to look for a place in the Libertadores quarterfinals.
