Zero solutions to the crisis: Miqati binds the electricity loan to the session… Berri awaits the options of the presidential current

He came in “Major General”: The interim government headed by Najib Mikati operates according to the old saying: “Work for this world as if you were to live forever, and work for the hereafter as if you were to die tomorrow.” This was evident from the relentless quest to pass the Capital Control Act, which is about to break out of the maze of attraction and procrastination to the light, marking the beginning of the recovery of deposits in the way that “giving less is better than to deprive”. “

And while the government unleashed the fight against corruption and took the corridors by storm, starting with the “benefits” to the real estate departments, and to the ministries of services from health to jobs, up to education, to reduce the number of workers in the public sector, through foreign exchange operations, and blocking the occupation, has opened the door for the European judiciary to storm the arena of money smuggling and banking and financial corruption by listening to the testimony of bank managers, employees and suspects involved.

Despite the slowdown in contacts or consultations for the election of the new president of the republic, Lebanon has received European moral support, transmitted by the ambassador of the European Union, Ralph Tarraf, to President Mikati, to improve conditions, including economic .

The most important of the delays is that of President Nabih Berri in convening a new session to elect a new president. Similarly, President Mikati considered it advisable not to set a date for a cabinet session before ensuring the presence of a majority of ministers, and not to create a new rift in terms of opposition to tight accounts or anything else.

He did not know the reason for Berri’s delay, but his close associates attributed his statement to him, which gives the opportunity to know the fate of the current movements, both in terms of the representatives of the change, and in terms of the options that the Movement Patriotic Free will appeal in terms of nominating a candidate who constitutes the beginning of disengagement from internal issues with Hezbollah.

According to them, Berri is trying to seize an opportunity to put dialogue back on the table, given that there is no space to waste the opportunity to gather the word of the representatives around a candidate they agree with.

However, political sources have revealed that President Berri’s delay in convening the eleventh session for the election of the new president of the republic next Thursday, as expected, is due to two reasons, the first of which is the persistence of the climate of division prevailing is, between the parties in authority and their allies on the one hand, and the opposition parties on the one hand. Secondly, and the absence of any breakthrough that paves the way for breaking the deadlock and moving on to the election stage of the president, so that the session is not a tedious repetition of the sessions for the election of the president of the previous republic, without any disappointing results, while the Lebanese expect that the parliament will behave differently from what has happened up to now, and that we can proceed the election of a new President of the Republic as soon as possible.

As for the second and more important reason from the point of view of political sources, it is the anticipation of the choice that the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, deputy Gebran Bassil, will adopt towards the presidential elections, and whether he will nominate someone in the next session to elect the President of the Republic or will remain busy with its parliamentary bloc to vote on the white paper option, because neither of the two aforementioned options will affect the amount of white papers that will be obtained from the parties in power, especially the party alliance, and will negatively affect the distribution of political forces in the ongoing battle for the election of the President of the Republic, at a time when the party avoids reaching this stage, which reflects the party’s inability to manage its alliances. As he has always done in such articulated titles.

As for the preparations for the convening of a meeting of the Council of Ministers dedicated to the approval of a financial advance for electricity and the progress plan for the entire sector, the sources indicated that there is an agreement between the Shiite duo hold the session, as it is an urgent matter affecting the basic needs of the population, including electricity, and the quorum to hold it has been secured, while it has not been guaranteed that Energy Minister Walid Fayyad will attend the session at the will of the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, representative Gebran, and that his signature on the decrees relating to electricity is not guaranteed, and therefore contacts and efforts continue to overcome the remaining obstacles to convening the cabinet.

For its part, informed political sources told Al-Liwaa that political parties will not reveal their presidential cards before obtaining firm data, in other words, that the blocs will not soon change the status quo in the presidential election scene, so that the Free Patriotic Movement may delay announcing its position until it reads a certain development.

These sources stressed that the blocs are making the necessary contacts, but there is no information on the possibility of changing views overnight. And he understood that the next few hours could provide answers on the orientation of some parties.

As for a new session of the Ministerial Council, wishes and options meant that Miqati did not rush to convene the session, after reports that Hezbollah was “not keen” to attend a new session at the moment, with the Free Patriotic Movement who refused to participate, and taking into account the general grandfather Christian, according to information from Aoun sources. .

The only item on the agenda, if the session is held, will be the electricity mortgage, which Mikati believes only the Council of Ministers is the necessary step to regulate it in a legal and practical framework.

Mikati stressed that “we should be a coherent hand to save and preserve our country”, noting that “security is with everyone’s collaboration”.

Regardless of the suspicion of position swapping between the Free Patriotic Movement and Hezbollah between leaving the White Paper with a decision or individual options for representatives, and Hezbollah’s lack of enthusiasm for a session without the participation of Christian ministers affiliated with the Free Movement Movement, describes a “Shia duo” leader on the eve of Lebanese bloc meeting What is strong today is what Basil tries to market as a kind of theatrics, in “dead time” after entering the presidential election, a long pile .

According to this leader, Basil’s departure from the white paper option removes “the moral obligation of the party not to approve any presidential option without the approval of the movement and its president, Gebran Bassil”.

Those familiar with the party vibe believe his assessment is that the major international powers want to use the vacuum as a means to blame Hezbollah for the political and economic collapse that Lebanon has achieved.

What is important to the party is the continuation of civil peace, amid information about plans to draw Hezbollah into the game of barricades and civil strife… In a private meeting with a partisan figure from the national duo, it seemed remarkable that his statement that the duo’s decision in Lebanon to de-escalate the conflict and encircle it in the events of Tayouneh, Shuya and Khaldeh does not signify either side’s indifference to our ability to respond, but in different ways this time and under the title of preserve civil peace and prevent conflict.
