Many Löwen fans should have hoped for a similar spectacle on Saturday afternoon after the 6: 1 home gala against Halle. However, expectations were disappointed. Michael Köllner’s team had to be satisfied with a 0-0 win against KFC Uerdingen.

As expected, the guests from Krefeld let the hosts take the initiative in half one. There was very little offensive action from Uerdingen in the first 45 minutes. But the Lions had a very difficult time against the well-staggered defense as they did against Halle – with the difference that this time there was no untie before the break. The “blues” mostly acted too unimaginatively, so it was logical to go into the cabins without goals. Immediately after the break, the lions recorded their best phase. Sascha Mölders and Stefan Lex increased the pressure with their attempts, but after an hour of play the blue glory was over again. Quirin Moll made a big mistake in the back, the hitherto almost unemployed keeper Marco Hiller had to save the hosts from falling behind. It got even bigger in the 69th minute: After an unnecessary foul, Erik Tallig had to leave the field with yellow and red! The lions were outnumbered for the last 20 minutes – and suddenly the harmless Uerdinger sensed their chance to unexpectedly kidnap all three counters from Giesing. Hiller was in a good mood today and secured at least one point for the sixties.
This is what Löwen coach Michael Köllner said after the game: “We can and must live with the 0-0 today. Up until the yellow-red card we played a very, very dominant game. Uerdingen had almost no chance to score. We actually have to take the lead through Sascha Mölders. Out at the back we were outnumbered it was difficult, but the bottom was zero. In the end it was also important not to allow a hit against such a counter-strong opponent. “
