Zero Hunger Nuevo Leon Receives International Award at the Global Summit of the Food Bank Network, in Australia

Zero Hunger Strategy Nuevo León was awarded the international Outstanding Collaboration award

Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.- The Zero Hunger Nuevo León strategy received today the international Outstanding Partnership Award, at the Global Summit of the Food Bank Network held in Sydney, Australia.

This recognition highlights the efforts made by this strategy to eradicate hunger in the state and allows its actions to be positioned internationally.

Enrique Gómez Junco, president of the Mexican Food Bank Network (BAMX) and patron of the Caritas de Monterrey Food Bank ABP, received the award on behalf of Hambre Cero Nuevo León at the ceremony held within the framework of this summit.

The Zero Hunger strategy award was given as part of the 2024 Food Bank Excellence and Innovation Awards program, which highlights the innovative and transformative collaboration of these organizations. Representatives of banks from more than 50 countries around the world are participating in this Summit for a five-day event.

The award recognizes collaborations that go beyond the conventional. It rewards efforts that mobilize volunteers to strengthen the work of food banks, foster creativity and innovation to improve their operations, and leverage the power and influence of companies to generate a transformative impact.

Whether it’s raising awareness about food insecurity, supporting climate action, or leading initiatives against food loss and waste.

The Caritas Food Bank of Monterrey is part of the Inter-Institutional Committee for Zero Hunger, chaired by Martha Herrera, head of Equality and Inclusion, and made up of 14 agencies, academic institutions and organizations such as the Secretariats of Equality and Inclusion, Health, Economy, Labor, Education, Regional Development and Agriculture and Tourism; DIF Nuevo León, Nuevo León Council, Tecnológico de Monterrey, Autonomous University of Nuevo León, University of Monterrey, Regiomontana University and Canaco.

The recognition granted in Australia adds to the international participation that took place in July when the head of Equality and Inclusion presented to the United Nations High-Level Political Forum the actions that have been undertaken with this strategy at the state level.
