Once again, no agreement was reached for the election of the new Attorney General of the Nation during the fourth meeting of the Plenary Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, which took place on March 7.
None of the candidates—Amelia Pérez, Luz Adriana Camargo and Ángela María Buitrago—for President Gustavo Petro, reached the necessary 16 votes. The candidates have been waiting for the decision for more than five months.
During the last meeting of the court, the president of the Court, Gerson Chaverra, had reported that one of the candidates had obtained a high vote that had not been reached before, which projected “a good outlook for the election.”
However, for the fourth time, an agreement could not be reached. The president of the Court announced that it was agreed that an extraordinary room will be held on March 12 to make a decision.
