The airship association and municipal museums in Neu-Isenburg (Offenbach district) are launching a special campaign. Frankfurt is also affected.
Update from Monday, September 25th, 3 p.m.: Zeppelins are rarely seen in the sky these days. The people’s faces are all the more astonished when one of the airships makes its rounds again. That’s what happened to people in Frankfurt. A zeppelin with the distinctive “Goodyear” logo has been circling over the city since September 21st.
The background is a postcard campaign by the Zeppelin Airship Association Zeppelinheim in cooperation with the museum management of the city of Neu-Isenburg in the Offenbach district (see initial report). On Monday, September 25th, the Zeppelin will make its final laps over the skyline.
On October 6th, a special exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Goodyear Zeppelin Corporation begins in the Zeppelin Museum Zeppelinheim.
Postcard campaign: Zeppelin mail for everyone
First report from Tuesday, August 29th, 3:17 p.m.: Zeppelinheim – They are eye-catchers in the sky and have always held a special fascination for people: Zeppelins. On the occasion of the upcoming visit of the Zeppelin NT (stands for New Technology) in Frankfurt, the Zeppelin Airship Association Zeppelinheim is once again initiating a special campaign in cooperation with the museum management of the city of Neu-Isenburg. From September 1st to 21st, visitors to the Zeppelin Museum in Zeppelinheim can write special postcards and put them in a special mailbox. The cards will be flown over Frankfurt on the Zeppelin NT from September 21st to 25th and then handed over to Deutsche Post for further transport.

In addition to the limited special postcards, which are provided free of charge by the Zeppelin Airship Association, all cards receive a special stamp designed especially for the occasion and an airship on-board stamp. As an additional treat, the city’s cultural office is donating a 70-cent special postage stamp for the Zeppelinpost, which was also created especially for the occasion.
Zeppelin is circling over Frankfurt – that’s behind the postcard campaign
“After the Zeppelin Post for Everyone campaign was hugely well received by visitors in 2021 as part of the special exhibition Postal Airship Greetings, we didn’t have to think twice about offering this campaign again,” explains Jens Schenkenberger, chairman of the association and initiator of the idea. “Back then, the cards were not only sent to recipients in Germany or Europe, some were even sent to Japan, the USA and South America,” remembers Schenkenberger.

“It was also nice to see that many children and young people took advantage of the campaign with great joy. Accordingly, it was once again a matter of the heart for us to support this great idea on the part of the city of Neu-Isenburg,” says Christian Kunz, head of the city’s museums.
But be careful, the postcards are limited to a thousand copies and the special postage stamp to five hundred copies. The special postage stamp and the special cancellation will only be given to cards that are written on site in the museum and then returned there. The number of cards and stamps is limited to two per person. If there are still tickets available, they will be available at the landing site at the Kronenhof in Bad Homburg during the flight weekend on the 23rd/24th. Distributed in September. “Now all we have to do is keep our fingers crossed that the weather cooperates,” says Schenkenberger with a wink. The campaign is free, but of course the Zeppelin Museum and the Zeppelin Airship Association are happy about donations.
