Fresh off her well-deserved Emmy win for Euphoria, Zendaya came on board a new movie that feels so personalized to me that I’m considering renting twelve rooms for myself just so I can watch it over and over again. It’s no secret that Your ‘ma lil’ music head , especially classic ’60s girl groups like The Ronettes , and its founding member Ronnie Spector . And now, by deadline, we’ve learned that Zendaya will actually be playing Spector in an upcoming biopic for the extraordinary prestige studio A24, and the level of talent, personal interests, and musical power fused together simply overwhelms me in this moment. moment!

If you don’t know a name with Spector or The Ronettes, you at least know “Be My Baby ” an absolute pop music classic with one of the best drum beats of all time. Be My Baby is also the title of Spector’s autobiography that will serve as the basic text for the film – and if I was a gambler, I would say that will be the title of the film as well. Jackie Sibblies Drury , the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright from Fairview , is in talks to adapt the book for A24 and New Regency (the two studios have also collaborated on the upcoming Malcolm & Marie by Zendaya). Zendaya and Spector will also be producing alongside Marc Platt (La La Land) and Jonathan Greenfield .
Spector’s life story, which includes a vicious relationship with the vicious record producer Phil Spector (you know, the murderer) and eventual triumph, is fascinating and rumored for drama. And it looks like Spector had a say in Zendaya by playing her – especially since (eyeball emoji) Spector recently posted a photo with them after Zendaya’s Emmy win. I just can’t wait to see what this team does with this story, and my only follow-up question (other than what is the title, release date, other cast members, director and any other details of it? ‘plot) is: synchronize?
