This is the Ukrainian head of state’s first trip abroad since the beginning of the Russian invasion in February this year.
The United States wants to announce new military aid to Kiev for 1.8 billion dollars on the occasion of Zelenskyj’s visit. Delivery of the Patriot system will also be part of the support.
Zelensky is expected to meet with the heads of the Democrats and Republicans on the National Security Committee.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday that Congress will hold “a very special focus on democracy” Wednesday night, according to Reuters. Pelosi did not specify what the fight will be about.
According to American media, Zelensky’s visit to the United States is being kept secret for security reasons.
When asked by the media, the White House declined to comment on information about Zelensky’s visit.
