The farewell ceremony for Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Kotsyubaylo with the call sign “Da Vinci” was attended by President Volodymyr Zelensky, Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhny, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kirill Budanov and Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin, who is visiting Kiev.

Details: A memorial service for the deceased was held in St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral. Several hundred people came to the temple, including Zelensky and Sanna Marin.

Then the coffin with the body of the deceased Kotsubailo was carried to Independence Square, where the ceremony will continue.

Added: Suspilne reported that Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zalozhny, Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov and Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kirill Budanov are also present at the ceremony on Independence Square.

Zelensky said that he gave Da Vinci’s mother, Oksana Kotsyubaylo, the Military Merit Cross, which her son was posthumously awarded.

  • On March 7, a volunteer of the Right Sector DUK, Hero of Ukraine, 27-year-old Dmitry Kotsyubaylo, known by the call sign Da Vinci, died at the front.
  • It became known that Battalion Commander Dmitry Kotsyubaylo “Da Vinci” who died near Bakhmut, Hero of Ukraine, will say goodbye on March 10.

He has been at the front since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war. In 2014, he was wounded by a tank shell in Pesky, Donetsk region. After three months of rehabilitation, he returned to the front, where he continued to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

By decree of President Zelensky on November 30, 2021, Kotsyubaylo was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
