Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the West to adopt a new package of sanctions against Moscow after the announcement of further cuts in Russian gas supplies to Europe, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
In his regular video address last night, Zelensky said it was now clear to everyone that Russia was putting pressure on Europe and using state energy giant Gazprom to make this winter the “toughest” for European countries.
He condemned “another induced increase in gas prices” aimed at Europeans. “It is clear to everyone that this is targeted price terror on the part of Russia against Europe,” Zelensky said and called “to respond to terror with sanctions,” notes France Press.
Moscow deliberately keeps gas prices rising to the equivalent of more than 2,000 euros per 1,000 cubic meters on the stock exchange, the Ukrainian president said.
Zelensky also emphasized that it is necessary for the Russian public to learn about the human cost of war.
Although nearly 40,000 Russian soldiers have died since the start of the war, Russian society as a whole is not aware of these figures, he said.
