Zelensky was awarded two orders of the Republic of Ichkeria

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy was awarded two highest awards of the Republic of Chechnya – “Honour of the Nation” and orders named after Jovhar Dudayev.

According to the official website of the President, they were awarded to Zelensky for his outstanding service and selfless activity for the sake of freedom and democracy around the world, as well as for his special services to the Chechen people.

Although the decision on the award was signed by the chairman of the government of Ichkeria, Ahmet Zakayev, on November 27 last year, Kirill Budanov, the head of the General Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, handed it over to Zelensky only now.

According to information obtained by SIA, the President of Ichkeria Aslan Maskhadov, Acting President of Ichkeria Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev and Lithuanian politician, leader of the Lithuanian independence movement Vytautas Landsbergis were awarded these awards before.

It should be recalled that in November of last year, Vladimir Zelensky officially responded to the petition on the recognition of the independence of Ichkeria, which collected more than 25,000 signatures, which makes it mandatory to be considered by the head of state. The President of Ukraine instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country to consider the issue raised in the appeal within its powers and to submit appropriate proposals to it.

In October last year, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution recognizing Chechnya as a territory temporarily occupied by Russia, as well as condemning the “genocide of the Chechen people”.
