Ukrainians will soon celebrate victory over Russia together, President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a visit to a hospital in Kyiv for those injured in the conflict, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
“It could not be otherwise when there are such strong families in our country,” he said in a statement issued by his office shortly after meeting with a family whose members were shot while trying to escape.
During the visit, Zelenski gave the 8-year-old family a plush toy. According to Ukrainian sources, the boy’s sister defended him while they were under fire from the Russian military. He and his mother were seriously injured while fleeing Vorzel, north of Kyiv.
A senior US official, meanwhile, said Russia had fired more than 1,000 missiles since the invasion of Ukraine, which is now in its fourth week, Reuters reported.
