The President spoke via video link at the summit of the Trimorya project, calling for Ukraine to join it.
Ukraine should join the Trimorie project, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said while speaking at the project’s summit on Monday, June 20.
“Ukraine should be a member of the Three Seas Initiative. It’s not right that our country is outside this wonderful initiative,” he said.
Zelensky proposed to strengthen the interpretation of cooperation within the Trimorye, emphasizing the importance of logistics.
“It is the states of Trimoria that are our connection with the free world. The supply of weapons to Ukraine, the supply of fuel, traffic flows, green corridors for the export of Ukrainian food, the migration of people – all this works through the territory of the states participating in this initiative,” the president said.
Zelensky touched upon the topic of energy, recalling Europe’s largest underground gas storage facilities.
“Using the capabilities of Poland-Slovakia, Poland-Ukraine interconnectors, we can meet the needs of all countries of the Trimorye region. Our export of electricity can become our contribution to the energy balance of your countries. And it will help you become independent from Russian energy pressure,” he stressed.
The President of Ukraine noted that “we must do everything to make the trans-European corridor Via Carpathia work at 100%, uniting Northern and Southern Europe.”
He also noted the possibility of Ukraine to play the role of one of the logistics centers. “We can join Via Carpathia now,” he said.
“We must work on expanding checkpoints at the borders of Ukraine, we can provide support for many infrastructure projects in the field of digitalization, and strengthen our regional digital ties,” Zelensky said.
He called on project members to take part in the restoration of Ukraine as “the biggest project of our generation.”
As you know, the Trimorie project, or the Baltic-Adriatic-Black Sea Initiative, includes 12 EU countries from Central and Eastern Europe.
Yesterday, Zelensky said that Ukrainians are waiting for the most important week since 1991 – The European Council will decide on Ukraine’s candidacy for membership in the European Union.
