Zelensky: “The war will end faster with Trump” –

Ukraine should do everything it can to ensure that the war with Russia ends next year through diplomacy, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a radio interview broadcast today.

Zelensky also admitted that the situation on the front in eastern Ukraine is difficult and that Russian forces are making progress. He also estimated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not interested in reaching a peace agreement.

At the same time, the Ukrainian president explained that American law stipulates that he cannot meet with the newly elected US president Donald Trump before he is sworn in in January, stressing that he prefers to speak directly with the Republican himself and not through an envoy or adviser.

“I, the president of Ukraine, will take seriously only one conversation with the president of the USA, with all due respect to any environment, to any person,” he underlined.

“For our part, we must do everything to end this war in time, to end it through diplomatic channels,” Zelensky explained.

Soltz opened “Pandora’s box”

Earlier, Zelensky said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s phone conversation with Vladimir Putin had opened “Pandora’s box”, undermining efforts to isolate the Russian leader.

“Now there may be other conversations, other phone calls. Just a lot of words. And this is exactly what Putin has wanted for a long time: it is extremely important for him to weaken his isolation,” Zelensky said in an afternoon speech.

The Ukrainian president also said that Russia’s war against his country would “end faster” under the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump.

“The war will end, but there is no exact date. Of course, with the policy of this group, which will now lead the White House, the war will end faster,” he told Ukrainian radio station Suspilne.

He stressed that a “just peace” is vital for Ukraine.
