Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskytalking with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. Zelensky claims Jokowi invited him to a high-level conference (KTT) G20 in that conversation.
“Talk to President @jokowi. Thank you for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, especially his clear stance at the UN. Food security was also discussed,” Zelensky said via Twitter, Wednesday (27/4).
At the end of the tweet, Zelensky also wrote, “I appreciate [Jokowi] for inviting me to the @g20org summit.”
Zelenksy did not elaborate on the other topics discussed in his conversation with Jokowi.
However, recently, Indonesia has indeed been in the spotlight as the holder of the G20 presidency in 2022, when the Russian invasion of Ukraine was smoldering.
Indonesia has stated that it will continue to invite Russian President, Vladimir Putin, as head of the G20 member states to a high-level conference which will be held in Indonesia later this year.
Indonesia’s decision has drawn criticism from a number of parties, especially Western countries, including the United States.
The US even threatened not to attend the series of G20 meetings if there was Russia. In a number of G20 meetings in the US, several Western countries have also shown their protest by walking out.
The US President, Joe Biden, then urged Indonesia to invite Ukraine to the G20 summit if it wanted to invite Russia.
