Zelensky shoots anyway: Ukraine will never accept a peace deal imposed on it – 2024-09-26 01:53:30

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today accused his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin of planning attacks on Ukraine’s nuclear infrastructure.

“I recently received other alarming information from our intelligence services that Putin appears to be planning attacks on our nuclear facilities and their infrastructure,” Zelensky said during his address to the UN General Assembly.

The Ukrainian president also cast doubt on the “genuine interest” of a push by China and Brazil to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, saying: “You will not increase your power at the expense of Ukraine.”

“When some propose alternative, half-hearted settlement plans, so-called package proposals, they not only ignore the interests and suffering of Ukrainians but also give (Russian President Vladimir) Putin political space to continue the war,” he said.

Volodymyr Zelensky also said that his country “will never accept” a peace agreement imposed on it” by the major powers.

Denouncing “colonialist wars and conspiracies of big powers against small” countries, the Ukrainian president said that “Ukrainians will never accept” a possible peace agreement with Moscow that would be “imposed” on them.

A direct attack on Putin

Kremlin strongman Vladimir Putin is trying to quell Ukrainian resistance by leaving them “in the dark and cold this winter,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today in a speech to the UN General Assembly.

“Since Russia cannot bend the resistance of our people on the battlefield, Putin is looking for other ways to demoralize Ukrainians. One of the methods (he uses) is strikes on our energy infrastructure,” Zelensky said during his 20-minute speech.

It said Russian forces have destroyed all of Ukraine’s thermal power plants and a “large part” of hydropower plants. In total, Russia has damaged 80% of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

“This is how Putin is preparing for winter: hoping to torture millions of Ukrainians, ordinary families, women, children, cities and villages. Putin wants to leave them in the dark and cold this winter, forcing Ukraine to suffer and capitulate.”

Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Russia will not stop trying to grab more territory after Putin decided he can “do whatever he wants”. “I think every leader, every country that supports us … sees that Russia – a country with a territory 20 times the size of Ukraine – still wants even more territory,” he said.

The Ukrainian president also denounced the role of Iran and North Korea as Russia’s “collaborators” in the war against his country.

Tomorrow Thursday, Volodymyr Zelensky will present Kiev’s “victory plan” to end the war to US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee in the November 5 presidential election.
