Ukraine honors the defenders of the Donetsk airport, whose spirit is stronger than the blocking of the DAP terminals, the head of state noted.
With their fearlessness and invincibility, the defenders of the Donetsk airport showed all Ukrainians that they need to fight for their land to the end. President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote about this on his page in Facebook on Sunday, January 16th.
“The Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Donetsk Airport. The Day of the ‘cyborgs’ who survived in spite of everything. The Day of people whose spirit is stronger than the blocking of the DAP terminals. With their fearlessness and invincibility, they showed us all that we need to fight for our land to the end. We remember our heroes!” the head of state wrote.

The military, volunteers and volunteers heroically defended the strategic facility for 242 days. On January 20, 2015, the separatists blew up the new terminal along with its defenders. On January 21, the last soldiers left the airport.
According to the latest official data, during the fighting 109 soldiers were killed for Donetsk airport. Another 446 people were injured, six were missing.
