Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has imposed sanctions on 117 people, mostly representatives of Russia’s entertainment industry, including pop singer Philip Kirkorov.
It is posted on the presidential administration website Full list of the sanctioned, which stated that Kirkorov, in addition to Russian, also has Bulgarian citizenship. He was born in Varna and he is honorary citizen of the city since 2017. Ukrainian media recall that in 2014 he welcomed the annexation of Crimea by Russia, and this summer he attended concerts on the peninsula in front of the participants of the occupation, calling them heroes.
Zelensky’s order specifies that the Kiev authorities will inform their EU and US partners and raise the issue of imposing such restrictions.
The sanctions include blocking the assets of listed persons in Ukraine, limiting their business operations, banning movement around the country, confiscating state awards, informs the Russian publication “Kommersant”.
The blacklist also includes pop artists, actors, comedians, TV presenters, the president of the Union of Artists of Russia Nikita Mikhalkov, propagandists Margarita Simonyan and Dmitry Kiselyov.
