Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visit the eastern region Ukraine for the first time since the invasion Russia. During the visit, Zelensky apparently also fired the head of the Kharkiv Security Service for not working to defend the city.
“I came, found out and fired the head of the Ukrainian Security Service (Kharkiv) region,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky reasoned that the head of the Kharkif Security Service had not worked to defend the city since the first time Russia invaded the city. According to him, so far he is only concerned with himself.
“Due to the fact that he did not work on the defense of the city from the first days of the full-scale war, but only thought about himself,” Zelensky said in his daily national address. He was speaking after visiting the war-torn east of the country for the first time since the Russian invasion.
Zelensky has not disclosed the motive for the dismissal in detail. He ensured that law enforcement officers would uncover it.
“What is the motive? Law enforcement officers will later reveal it,” he added.
The Ukrainian President’s office noted that 2,229 buildings had been demolished in Kharkiv and the region. Zelensky also promised to rebuild the Kharkiv region and the cities destroyed by Russia.
“We will restore, rebuild and revive. In Kharkiv and all other towns and villages where evil comes,” he said on his Telegram account.
