Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for the lifting of restrictions on how Ukraine can use long-range weapons supplied to it by its Western allies, following a deadly Russian bombardment near Kiev, which he said was likely a North Korean missile was used.
“The Russians have no geographic restrictions on the use of such weapons – from the first days of full-scale war, as the entire territory of our state is under the constant threat of an attack,” Zelensky wrote in X today.

“When Ukraine’s long-range capabilities will have no limits, this war will certainly have limits, we will bring its end closer,” he added.
Ukraine cannot use Western weapons to strike targets deep inside Russian territory, in part because European and US leaders fear that would drag them into war.
Zelensky said Russia launched 30 missiles and more than 800 guided bombs against Ukraine in one week.
He condemned Russia’s “deliberate terrorist strike” in a Kiev suburb that killed a father and his 4-year-old son, saying initial information indicated Russia had used a North Korean missile.
However, there are conflicting reports from Kiev. Zelensky’s adviser Andriy Germak said an Iranian-designed drone had struck the family’s home in the suburb of Brovary.
